Family Day

Journeys around the world

WORKSHOPS

Saturday 20 June 2026

For June’s Family day we are working in partnership with Stories & Supper, one of our Communities in Residence at William Morris Gallery. Together, we are celebrating Refugee Week 2026 and this year’s theme of ‘Courage’, highlighting the creativity, resilience, and contributions of refugees and people seeking asylum.

Hands‑on craft sessions are inspired by Women in Print: 150 Years of Liberty Textiles which celebrates the women designers behind Liberty’s signature style. Families will discover the global influences and journeys that shaped these designs, tracing where patterns originated and the cultures that inspired them. We’ll create and decorate our own origami boats before sailing them across a large world map to follow the routes and stories behind the prints.

While craft activities take place, Stories & Supper will be hosting a screening of x4 short films from the Refugee Week 2026 Festival Selection throughout the afternoon.

All activities will take place in the Learning Rooms on the Gallery’s Second Floor, with lift access available.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. A breakout space will be available for anyone who needs it. Families are encouraged to explore the Gallery and follow the Women in Print Family Trail. Sensory satchels are also available to borrow from our Front Desk.
