Welcoming groups to the Gallery

All group visits and coach trips are warmly welcomed to the Gallery. Groups can visit independently with their own guide or book a private guided tour.

Self-guided tours

Entry is free but we ask self-guided tour groups to please book in advance.  To avoid disappointment, please try to make your booking at least four weeks before your planned visit.

William Morris Gallery Tour
Step into the world of William Morris with a guided tour of the Gallery’s permanent collection. Explore iconic designs, textiles, and stories that shaped the Arts and Crafts movement.

• Price: £20 per person

Special Exhibition Private Tour
Delve into the Gallery’s current special exhibition with an expert-led introduction and guided tour of the show.

William Morris Gallery Tour + Object Handling
Enhance your visit with a guided tour followed by a unique object handling session in the Gallery’s Acanthus Room. Engage directly with materials and techniques inspired by Morris’s work.

• Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
• Price: £40 per person
• Group size: 10–20 people (larger groups split)
• Optional extra: Tea, coffee, and cakes/pastries (£10 per person)

Behind the Scenes at William Morris Gallery
A special tour of the permanent collection plus a rare visit to the Gallery’s collection and archive store. A fascinating opportunity to discover how artworks are preserved and cared for.

• Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
• Price: £75 per person
• Group size: 5–15 people (larger groups split)
• Optional extra: Tea, coffee, and cakes/pastries in the Acanthus Room (£10 per person)

• We are happy to welcome translators accompanying tour groups, free of charge (subject to group capacity limits).
•  All private group bookings receive an exclusive 10% discount in the Gallery shop

Community tours

William Morris Gallery offers free introductory community welcome tours to registered charities, social enterprises and constituted charitable groups in Waltham Forest and neighbouring boroughs. You’ll be introduced to the life and legacy of William Morris, see key objects from our collection and learn about the history of the Gallery. Community tours are also available for each of the Gallery’s special exhibitions.
