Family Day in the Park
Morris’s Magical Menagerie
WORKSHOPS
Saturday 8 August 2026
Create bold, colourful animal masks inspired by the wildlife of Lloyd Park, then use them to explore a playful summer trail that encourages children to see nature from different viewpoints.
As the Gallery is closed for refurbishment, we’re heading outdoors to the bandstand in Lloyd Park where William Morris used to play!
This month, families will design and decorate their own colourful animal masks, taking inspiration from the creatures that live in and around the park. From birds gliding above the treetops to beetles tucked among the roots, children will think about how different animals experience their surroundings. Once their masks are ready, families can follow our summer nature trail, which invites children to look closely at textures, patterns, and tiny details in the park, just like William Morris did.
As the event takes place outdoors, families are encouraged to dress for the weather; hats, sun cream, and water for warm days or layers and waterproofs if it’s colder.
There are accessible toilets in the park and Deeney’s café will be open in the Gallery building.
