Stories from the World: Folk Tales from Africa

  • Free, drop-in. For families with children aged 6 - 12 years old. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets are allocated on a first come first served basis from 10am on the day of the performance.

We welcome back popular storyteller Giles Abbott for a season of lively family storytelling in the oral tradition. During the Easter holidays we travel around Africa, telling folk tales inspired by our exhibition Social Fabric. The sessions are interactive and audience participation is encouraged!

Giles Abbott is an award-winning storyteller known for his captivating style, who just happens to be the UK's only professional blind storyteller. He performs at festivals and events all over the world including the British Museum, Kolkata Literature Festival in India and the Festival at the Edge in Shropshire, England. He works with adults, schools and with ESOL students and is also a commercial voice teacher and writer.
