On Tuesday 31 May it’s Family Day at the William Morris Gallery and we're celebrating Carnival! Carnival has a long tradition in Trinidad and as a native Trinidadian, Carnival design was a huge inspiration for Althea McNish.

Join Ray Mahabir, Artistic Director at Sunshine International Arts, to learn about the history of Carnival in Trinidad and have fun creating your own carnival headdresses to take home with you. We have 4 time slots available for this activity: 13.00, 13.55, 14.50, 15.45.

While you’re waiting for a session to begin, we have an exciting new family trail now available. Start by exploring the Gallery and the Althea McNish: Colour is Mine exhibition with Indigo the Bird. Then follow the trail on an adventure around our garden with Fafnir the Dragon. When you’ve completed it, claim your prize!

Our craft activity is aimed at 6+ but all welcome. There will be toys for under 5s in our Honeysuckle room for families to engage with between sessions or if younger children need to get away (an adult must accompany).
