An introduction to the Clare Twomey exhibition, tile-painting, artist studio tours and demonstrations by ceramicists Linda Green (glazing) and Raewyn Harrison (throwing and hand-building) based at the Lloyd Park Studios. There will aso be a chance to view ceramics from the William Morris Gallery collection that are not currently on display in a behind-the-scenes visit to the collection store.
Students will rotate to different activities in small groups:
- An introduction to the Clare Twomey exhibition and her ideas, a chance to talk to the Master tile painter and apprentice at work on Clare's massive panel of Morris's Chrysanthemum design
- The chance to have a go at ceramic tile painting in the style of William Morris
- An introduction to Morris & Co's ceramics including a Gallery tour with sketching and a unique special access opportunity to explore art works in store including William de Morgan lustre ware with a Gallery curator
- Chance to meet local ceramacists Raewyn Harrison and Linda Green, have tours of their studios in Lloyd Park and demonstrations of throwing and glazing techniques.
