Stories & Supper’s cookery videos celebrate the home cuisine of its members, from Sri Lanka to DRC, India to Abkhazia. The short films showcase recipes from the refugees and asylum seekers in the group, alongside stories illustrating the importance of food and friendship for creating a sense of belonging in a new place.
Cook along as the chefs reveal what they love about the dish and share memories of back home. They also talk of their struggles in the UK, the long wait for permission to stay here and how Stories & Supper helped them build a sense of community.
These films were made with a Make it Happen grant from London Borough of Waltham Forest and with the support of Tom Moreton from Fat Beehive and local photographer and Stories & Supper member Laura Martinez. Stories & Supper currently have a community residency at William Morris Gallery, where they have been meeting to host their weekly creative workshops.
