One of the original designs for Edmund Hort New’s illustrations to Mackail’s “Life of William Morris”. Not used. The drawing is a copy of a tile at Red House, William and Jane Morris’s first home, showing an oak tree, letter M and Morris’s motto ‘si je puis’ (if I can) repeated twice across three banners.
