This drinking horn was made in Iceland, the carved inscription reads ‘HVITINGR’ (drinking horn) 1881. William Morris visited Iceland twice, firstly in 1871, then in 1873. The horn was donated to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter in 1939 by Mary Lobb, May Morris’s companion and later transferred to the William Morris Gallery.
