This bust of William Morris was formerly on display in the William Morris Hall, Somers Road, Walthamstow. The unknown artist may have used the bronze bust of William Morris (S35) as a model, as this would have been on display in the Walthamstow Public Library at the time. The Morris Hall was financed by local subscription and erected by voluntary labour in 1909 by members of the William Morris Co-operative Society as a “home” for the Socialist/Trades Union/Co-Operative movement in Walthamstow.
