‘Vieux Saules’. Second state. Three impressions only taken of the first state in which the left side of the plate was joined to another etching ‘Trees, Longpre, No. 2’ a copy of which is in the collection, see P 519 / ii. A copy of this first state, showing the lane leading down to a river with factories beyond is in the British Museum (BM 1943 – 12 – 11 – 239). This background was taken out and re-worked when the plate was divided.
