This etching by Walter Sickert is a portrait of Helen Carte Boulter (born Susan Helen Couper Black; 12 May 1852 – 5 May 1913), also known as Helen Lenoir, the second wife of Rupert D’Oyly Carte, opera impresarion and owner of the Savoy Hotel. Helen was D’Oyly Carte’s assistant and second wife. She became the business manager of the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company company and responsible for the Savoy Hotel.
