The attention to detail in this print challenges the initial assumption that this is an everyday scene. Despite being rendered in black and white, there is a lot of light in this image, giving off the impression of morning. We are perhaps viewing the subject through a window, creating a voyeuristic gaze. The apple that the woman is holding is an ambiguous symbol associated with temptation.
