This Diagonal Leaf tile was produced by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. in the 1870s. The design has been attributed to William Morris or William De Morgan, as it displays stylistic features associated with both designers. It is hand-painted in blue overglaze on a 5-inch tile.
The pattern consists of a bold diagonal spray of foliage that creates a strong directional movement across the surface when repeated. Only three examples of this design have been recorded, making it one of the rarer tile patterns produced by the firm.
