This spoon was previously thought to have been collected by William Morris in Iceland but it is more likely North African in origin, and was possibly acquired by May or Jane Morris during their trip to Egypt in 1896-97 or May during a trip to Morocco in 1911. It was donated to Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter in 1939 by Mary Lobb, May Morris’s companion and later transferred to the William Morris Gallery.
