This book by May Morris provides an introductory guide to embroidery for beginners. The book contains sections on the history of the craft, stitches and techniques, design and colour. May took over the running of Morris & Co’s Embroidery Department in 1885, she also taught and lectured on the subject widely. The book demonstrates her devotion to and understanding of the art of embroidery. She also designed the cover of this book which is stamped with a floral repeat.
