Tutors: textile artists Carolyn Abbott & Sba Shaikh with Pam Stone, Head of Textiles at Kelmscott School, Walthamstow.
Practical activities will include feltmaking - working with combed wool, and ways of applying colour and pattern; exploring methods of creating repeats on textiles from simple to more complex patterns. A school-based case study will show how a Natural Forms project using a range of textile techniques can be used effectively both for Art & Design and Design & Technology GCSE. There will also be a forum to share ideas and work together to apply skills and ideas gleaned from the day to participants’ own school context.
